Students Against Discrimination detained Cumilla University deputy registrar Mohammad Jakir Hossain and, later, handed him over to police.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, the students beat up banned student organisation Chhatra League member Arnab Singh Roy, who is also a student of the university, and handed over to the police.
It was learnt that, around 5:30PM on Monday, the students took deputy registrar Jakir Hossain to the office of the university's proctor. Afterward, other administrative officers met with the proctor for discussions. Later, with the assistance of administrative officials, the proctor and university students, Jakir was turned over to Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station over his alleged role in the attacks on students during the July-August mass uprising.
Md Shakhawat Hossain, a former student of the Cumilla University's Pharmacy Department, filed a case on September 18 of last year, over several allegations, including armed attacks on students and the explosion of cocktails on campus during the student movement.
Thirty-five mentioned and 50-60 unnamed individuals have been made accused in the case. Jakir Hossain is the 11th accused in this case.
Arnab Roy is the number 12 accused in the same case.
