A woman was reportedly beaten to death by her husband in Satkhira's Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at Madhabkati village under Jhaudanga union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Khadiza Khatun, 19, wife of Amirul Islam, a resident of the area.
Police arrested Amirul Islam, the husband of the victim, in connection with the incident.
Monirul Islam, a relative of the deceased, said, "Amirul Islam and Khadiza Khatun got married three months ago. Since then, Amirul had been creating pressure on Khadija to bring money from her father's house as dowry. Khadija used to be assaulted by Amirul as she denied to bring the money. Following this, on Tuesday morning, Amirul beat Khadija's head with a stick, leaving her critically injured. At that time, Amirul killed her by suffocating with a pillow."
Neighbors detained Amirul and handed him over to the police, he added.
Shaminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter.
