5 mobile phone theft held in Dhaka

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested five people involved in stealing and snatching mobile phones from passengers of public transport in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The arrested men are Md Ekhlas, 27, Md Alauddin, 32, Md Al Amin, 22, Hridoy Khan, 26 and Md Naeem, 25, according to a press release from DB.

Acting on a tip-of, the special branch of police conducted a raid and arrested them from a house in Bhatara at around 2:45am.

During the raid, 24 stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possessions.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang used a coordinated method to carry out the thefts.

A regular case has been filed against them with Bhatara Police Station, under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
