NATORE, Jan 14: Village courts in 38 unions of total 52 in the district are solving 96 per cent disputes.
Case clients are also getting satisfactory justice over their various disagreements.
The judicial system of this court is pretty simple. The clients do not have to hire lawyers. Only Tk 10 to 20 needs as fee to the court as per the case categories.
The remaining 14 unions will be brought the court soon.
These issues were disclosed at a coordinating meeting concerning the court, held in the conference room of Natore deputy commissioner (DC) office on Monday in order to make the activities of the village court speedy.
DC Asma Shahin presided over the meeting.
Md Shamim Hossain, deputy director (DD) of the Local Government Department-Natore delivered the main speech. He said, the village court is working at the union level following the Village Court Act 2006 in order to settle criminal and civil cases worth not more than Tk 3  lakh.
No need of lawyers for this purpose, and Tk 10 to 20 has to pay as fee against the case, he added.
He further said, there is a system of capital punishment in the court against the clients who will file false case against anyone and that is Tk 5,000.
DC Asma Shahin said, functions of the village court are admirable in the field of solving the  disputes of the village people; people are getting justice in a short time and at a little expenditure.
She called upon all to make the court more active to get good result from it.
Among others, Md Mustafizur Rahaman, and DD of Social Welfare Department-Natore and Shamima Lizu Neela, executive director of ALWO, spoke at the meeting.
