Sleeping woman dies as truck hits house

LALMONIRHAT, Jan 14: A sleeping woman was killed when a truck lost control over its steering and crashed into her house in Hatibandha Upazila of the district on Monday.
The accident took place at Patikapara Bottala on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway of the upazila at dawn.
The deceased was identified as Nuri Begum, a resident of the area. 
Her grandson Abdullah, 3, was also injured in the accident.
Police and local sources said that a goods-laden truck lost control over its steering and overturned inside a house next to the highway at dawn. On information, a team of Hatibandha Fire Service Station rushed in and rescued the child alive. However, his grandmother Nuri Begum was rescued dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Hatibandha Police Station Mahmudun-Nabi confirmed the incident, adding that traffic on the road is normal and the truck involved in the accident was taken into police custody.
