Dear Sir

Road accidents in Dhaka have reached alarming levels, causing countless injuries and fatalities. These incidents are not just isolated events but a pressing public health issue that demands urgent attention.

Several factors contribute to the high incidence of road accidents in the city. Reckless driving, lack of proper road infrastructure, inadequate traffic management, and poor enforcement of traffic laws are some of the primary reasons. Additionally, the growing number of vehicles on the road, coupled with the disregard for traffic rules, exacerbates the situation.

To address this issue, it is crucial to implement comprehensive road safety measures. First and foremost, stricter enforcement of traffic laws is essential. Offenders must face substantial penalties to deter reckless behavior. Public awareness campaigns should be launched to educate citizens about the importance of road safety and the consequences of negligence. Infrastructure improvements, such as better road signage, pedestrian crossings, and dedicated lanes for different types of vehicles, can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

Moreover, training programs for drivers, especially commercial vehicle operators, can help promote responsible driving habits. The government, traffic authorities, and citizens must collaborate to create a safer environment on our roads. By taking these proactive steps, we can mitigate the risks and ensure the safety of everyone on Dhaka's streets.
