The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two more cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy for alleged involvement in irregularities in the Purbachal New Town project's plot allocation.
The cases were filed at the ACC's Dhaka Integrated District Office on Tuesday, ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhter Hossain confirmed it to the journalists.
He said that through power abuse, Hasina and Joy, in collusion with senior RAJUK officials, allocated six plots, measuring 10 katha each, under political considerations using the government's authority.
According to the ACC, a total of 8 people, including officials from Ministry of Housing and Public Works and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK), have been named as accused in the case filed against Sheikh Hasina.
On the other hand, a total of 15 people, including Sheikh Hasina and officials from Ministry of Housing and Public Works and RAJUK, have been named as accused in the case filed against Joy.
According to the case statement, former PM Sheikh Hasina had allocated plots in the Purbachal New Town Housing Project abusing her power as well as violating the laws, rules, policies and legal procedures by concealing the fact that she had a house or flat or housing facility in Dhaka city in her own name and in the names of her son, daughter, sister, sister's daughter and sister's son.
While serving as the prime minister, the highest "public servant" post in the government, Hasina misused her power, did not pay applicable remuneration and grabbed plot No. 009 located around Road No. 203 of the diplomatic zone of Sector No. 27.
