3 resorts burnt in St. Martin fire

Three resorts have been gutted in a fire on Saint Martin Island early Wednesday.

The fire broke out at around 2:30 am at Galachipa of Ward No-7, Saint Martin Island.
The burned resorts are - Beej Valley Eco Resort, Kingshuk Eco Resort and Sairee Resort.

However, no casualties have been reported in the incident so far. The resorts authorities claim that the damage is worth around Tk 15 core.

Saint Martin Union Parishad Chairman Mujibur Rahman said, "On information, locals including members of the BGB, Navy, and Coast Guard came forward. Later, with everyone's efforts, the fire was brought under control after two hours. However, the resorts were burnt to ashes before that."

Absar Kamal, director of St. Martin Eco Resort Kingshuk, said, "Our resort, Beach Valley and Sairee Eco have burned down in Galachipa on the island. This has caused a loss of about Tk 150 million. The initial cause of the fire is said to be a fire in the garbage at Sairee Resort, which first caught fire in Beach Valley and then in Kingshuk."
