A passenger bus belonging to 'Habib Paribahan' was allegedly stolen from a petrol pump in Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj upazila.
The bus was reportedly stolen from Tushbhandar Rawshan filling station in the upazila at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (January 14).
Kaliganj Police Station OC Selim Malik confirmed the matter on Wednesday (January 15).
It was learnt that Habib Paribahan plies the route from Burimari to Dhaka. The bus was kept at the Tushbhandar Rawshan filling station (oil pump) for a few days due to problems. Later, around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, some people brought a black microbus and pushed the bus and started it. When the matter came to light, the police were informed.
The bus owner Raihan said, "I don't understand who took the bus from the petrol pump. We took the bus from one Fazlu Mia of Kurigram a few days ago. I started the bus business with a few friends.''
In this regard, Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Selim Malik said, 'Perhaps the owner of Kurigram took the bus over the money owed. Such information has been received from the locals. However, he did not decide to take the bus like this without informing anyone.'
Legal action will definitely be taken if a complaint is received, the OC added.
