A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on Md Jahangir Alam, a former personal assistant to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, his wife Momena Begum and their two sons over allegations of amassing illegal assets.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order on Wednesday after allowing a petition filed by ACC Assistant Director Md Rakibul Hayat.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir moved the petition on behalf of the anti-graft body.
Their two sons are Muhtasim Alam and Muntasim Alam.
The ACC official in his plea mentioned that said the anti-graft watchdog has been investigating the allegation against Jahangir, also a former health secretary who was earlier forced into retirement, over acquiring Tk 15,000 crore through corruption in his name and the names of his family members.
The plea also stated that they were trying to flee the country. So, a travel ban is needed to prevent them from going abroad to avert the justice.
