Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation (BBF) former general secretary and former Mr Bangladesh bodybuilder Md Nazrul Islam passed away in the morning on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a local hospital at the age of 70.
Nazrul was the general secretary of Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation for more than a decade. He studied at the Armanitola Government Pilot High-School, Dhaka College, and the University of Dhaka.
He was a Sports Secretary of the Falzul Haque Hall Student Assembly at the University of Dhaka. He also took the initiative to build a gymnasium at the FH Hall and arranged a bodybuilding event then.
Nazrul was the only body building judge in the country who had experience of being a judge in the International Bodybuilding event. Also, he was the chairman of the Bodybuilding Judges Association.
As a professional athlete, he participated in Body Building, Boxing and Judo. He won silver medal twice in the National Boxing event, brown belt in Judo and gold medal in the National Body Building.
The star bodybuilder was in the ICU of the hospital for a few days. He was not able to take food for the last few days and was suffering from a lung condition.
His Namaz-e-Janaza held at the Armanitola Baro Jame Masjeed after Jhuhr prayer on Wednesday. He was buried at the Azimpur graveyard later.
