The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram is set to host the third phase of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) starting with a doubleheader today. In the afternoon clash, the Dhaka Capitals will take on Fortune Barishal, while the Chittagong Kings face the Khulna Tigers under the lights.

The first match begins at 1:30pm followed by the second game at 6:30pm (BST).

After six consecutive defeats, the Dhaka Capitals finally tasted victory in their seventh match and they did so in emphatic style. Riding on centuries from both openers Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim, the Capitals set a record-breaking total of 254 runs to secure a commanding 149-run win over Durbar Rajshahi. Buoyed by this performance, the Capitals aim to carry their momentum into today's crucial clash.

The Capitals boast a versatile lineup, including Tanzid Tamim, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Thisara Perera, Mosaddek Hossain, Mukidul Islam Mugdho and Mustafizur Rahman. Each of these players has the potential to single-handedly turn the game in their favour and their collective performance will be key against the formidable Fortune Barishal.

Defending champions Fortune Barishal led by Tamim Iqbal on the contrary, are currently third on the points table with three wins from five games. A win today is crucial to bolster their playoff claims and maintain their position in the standings.

Barishal's star-studded lineup includes Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Rishad Hossain.

The team also benefits from a strong contingent of overseas players including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pathum Nissanka, Mohammad Nabi, Kyle Mayers and Dawid Malan. With this wealth of talent, Barishal will be determined to bounce back and consolidate their position in the tournament.

In the evening game, the Chittagong Kings will look to capitalize on home advantage and extend their winning streak. Their batting lineup featuring Usman Khan, Graham Clark, skipper Mohammad Mithun, Shamim Hossain Patowari, Naeem Islam and Moeen Ali are well-equipped to take on any bowling attack.

The Kings also have a balanced bowling unit with Syed Khaled Ahmed, Alis Al Islam, Mohammad Wasim, and Shoriful Islam, who can exploit the conditions at ZACS.

The Khulna Tigers however, are struggling for consistency will view this match as a critical opportunity to revive their season. Their batting order including Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Imrul Kayes, Afif Hossain and Mahidul Islam Ankon need to step up to challenge the Kings.

Khulna's bowling unit led by Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Abu Hider is capable but will require strong performances from all-rounders like Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Lewis Gregory and Mohammad Nawaz to secure a win.

The pitch at ZACS is known for its balanced nature offering assistance to both batters and bowlers. However, dew is expected to play a significant role in the evening match favouring the team batting second under lights.
