850 cold-hit people get winter clothes

Winter clothes were distributed among more than 850 cold-hit destitute people in two districts - Patuakhali and Khagrachhari.

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI: Blankets were distributed among 550 helpless people including elderly individuals, orphan children and poor students in Bauphal Upazila of the district.

The distribution programme was held at the office of RSC, a private development organization, at Kalaya Port in the upazila on Tuesday. 

Bauphal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul Islam was present as the chief guest at the programme.

IFIC Bank and private development organizations DCI and RSC jointly took the initiative. 

Managing director of RSC Dr Ehsan Hoque joined the ceremony via a video call. He said, "DCI and RSC are jointly working on the children's education and health. We will continue welfare activities for the poor people in the future. I also express my gratitude to IFIC Bank for supporting this great work."

Manager of Patuakhali Branch of the IFIC Bank Md Abdur Rahman, Area Manager of RSC Md Sirazul Islam, and teachers Harun-ur-Rashid and Md Muhiuddin, among others, were also present during the distribution.

KHAGRACHHARI: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday distributed winter clothes among more than 300 cold-hit helpless and distressed people in the district.

Zone Commander of Jaminipara BGB-23 Battalion Lt Col Khalid Ibne Hossain distributed these winter clothes among the cold-stricken people on Thailapara Government Primary School ground in the morning.

Jaminipara BGB-23 Battalion Zone Deputy Commander Major Md Ashikur Rahman, Major SM Md Masudur Mia, Zone NCO Mohammad Ruhul Amin, local public representatives and senior BGB officials, among others, were also present during the distribution.

The chief guest said that in addition to maintain border security, Jaminipara BGB-23 Zone is working for the neglected and helpless people of remote hilly areas, and such welfare work will continue in the future.
