BNP leader stabbed to death at Porsha

A local leader of BNP was stabbed to death in Porsha Upazila of Naogaon on Tuesday during an altercation over a land dispute. 
The deceased was identified as Maidur Rahman, 40. He served as the general secretary of Nitpur Union BNP and was an elected member of Ward No. 6 in Nitpur Union Parishad.

Police sources said that the conflict involved Abdur Rahim, 57, his son Ismail Hossain, 30, and one Barkulla, 25, of Gopinatpur Village. The incident occurred in Ranshada area of Nitpur Union during a land measurement. Maidur was stabbed during the confrontation at that time.
Later on, he was rushed to Porsha Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 
Maidur's brother Hamidul, 35, was also injured in the incident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station (PS) Shahin Reza confirmed the matter, saying that on information, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

However, the law enforcers are trying to apprehend those involved in the incident and filing of a murder case with the PS is underway in this connection, the OC added.
