Sales of national savings certificates have been suspended for six days due to a glitch in the server, which may take a few more days to resolve.
National Savings Directorate Director Mohammad Shariful Islam said the finance ministry's IT department is working on the issue.
He expects the problem to be resolved within a couple of days, after which savings certificate transactions will return to normal.
A senior official from the directorate said, "The server is expected to be fixed by Thursday, with normal services likely resuming either in the afternoon of that day or by Sunday morning."
The server malfunction has led to the suspension of new purchases of savings certificates since Thursday.
The distribution of investment profits has also been halted.
The issue was expected to be resolved by Monday, but as of Tuesday, the repairs have not yet been completed.
Shariful explained that the problem arose during the upgrade of some templates. —bdnews24.com
