Dr Subhagata Chy no more

Dr Subhagata Choudhury has died at the age of 78 after battling cancer for more than half a decade.

The renowned medical writer passed away on Wednesday morning, his brother Dr Arup Ratan Choudhury said.

He told bdnews24.com that Subhagata fell ill in the morning and was taken to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute in Dhaka, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

"He was undergoing chemotherapy. He suddenly fell ill in the morning and died at home. We took him to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital. His body has been kept at BIRDEM's mortuary."

Arup Ratan said that one of Subhagata's two daughters lives in Canada, while the other lives in Australia. His last rites will be performed on Friday upon their arrival.

He was an adviser to the Association of Nutritionists and Dieticians for Social Services, or ANDSS.
