BNP, the country's main political party, has joined the all-party dialogue convened by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus from 4pm-7pm today (Thursday) to finalise the July uprising proclamation.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed it saying that the party's Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed would represent BNP at the talks.
Though the BNP representative Salahuddin Ahmed has joined the dialogue, he will refrain from giving any opinion on July proclamation.
The BNP sources said Salahuddin Ahmed would informed the Chief Adviser about 'insufficient amount of time' to give opinion on July proclamation.
Earlier on Wednesday (January 15) night, the press wing of the Chief Adviser informed about the all-party meeting. It said the interim government led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will chair an all-party meeting at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital from 4:00am to 7:00pm.
Meanwhile, the media reports circulated during Thursday morning to noon predicting uncertainty over the BNP's joining at the meeting.
July-August uprising's student leaders as well as four advisers of the interim government – law adviser Asif Nazrul, industries adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, environment and climate change adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser Mahfuj Alam – are also taking part in today's all-party dialogue at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
Wednesday was the deadline issued by the student protest leaders, who led the movement to oust Awami League government last year, to declare the proclamation.
On Tuesday, Mahfuj Alam said BNP had agreed with other major socio-political players, including Jamaat-e-Islami, women organisations, educational organisations and student representatives, on issuing a proclamation to validate last year's anti-fascist uprising and the interim government.
BNP, alongside Jamaat, has also reportedly accepted a government-prepared draft of the uprising proclamation for discussing its aspects in today's dialogue.
