Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's central
committee convener Hasnat Abdullah has said, "Either fascism will stay
in Bangladesh, or we will stay. Either Awami League will stay in
Bangladesh, or we will stay. If Awami League is rehabilitated again, it
will have to be done over our blood."
He was speaking at an
opinion sharing meeting with teachers and employees of Alia and Qaumi
madrasas at Debidwar in Comilla on Thursday (January 16).
Hasnat
Abdullah also reminded the audience, saying: "Please remember! Those who
had rehabilitated Awami League, they were killed by Awami League when
the party came to power. So, those of you who consider rehabilitating
the Awami League thinking that the party will develop friendly
relationship with you, you rather live in fool's paradise. Be careful,
neck and sword can stay together."
Anti-Discrimination Student
Movement's convener also said: "Those who have been trying to
rehabilitate the Awami League for the politics of vote, they are
betraying with the national interest. Instead of considering to
rehabilitate the Awami League, raise demand for trying Awami League for
their unprecedented torture, repression, killings and murders over the
last 16 years. For God's sake, if you raise the demand to try the Awami
League, we will again take to the street with you. If you stand in
favour of fascists and oppressors, you will stand against the victims of
them. I will resist the fascist Awami League until the fall of last
drop of blood from my body."
He also said: "So many boys have
sacrificed their lives on streets. We acknowledge the contributions of
political parties of Bangladesh. You went through repression and torture
over the long 16 years. You could not have your meal in your houses
properly. You had to stay here and there fearing about the cases. You
could not buy a good dress. You had to appear before courts five days in
a week in 60 to 70 cases. How did you forget such torture and
repression of Awami League so easily?"
Dhamoti Darbar Sharif's
Pir Alhaj Bahauddin Ahmed chaired the opinion-sharing meeting. It was
attended by the teachers, officials and employees from different Alia
and Qaumi madrasas of Debidwar.
