Documents of a case filed on behalf of the chief adviser of the interim government, Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, and the then US Ambassador Peter Haas have been handed over to the concerned officials of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) by its petitioner.
The PBI was given the responsibility of investigating the case about a year ago. The petitioner, president of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Bangladesh Chapter, MA Hashem Raju, handed over all the documents of the case to PBI Additional SP Twai Ong Pru Marma and Inspector Anwar Hossain at its Dhaka office on Wednesday.
About a year ago, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ministers, MPs, and leaders repeatedly said that Nobel Peace Prize winner Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus would be thrown from the Padma Bridge and immersed in the river. They also said that the then US Ambassador Peter D Haas would be killed, slaughtered, and fed to the host. Sometimes the Awami Ministers-MPs also satirised Peter Haas as the God of BNP-Jamaat.
After handing over the documents on Wednesday, the plaintiff of the case, MA Hashem Raju, demanded the arrest and rapid trial of the accused as soon as possible.
