Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Thursday said all political parties and stakeholders have agreed to make the Proclamation of the July Revolution.

"We will be able to determine the name (of the Proclamation) by whatever the name you call it - today we all agreed on that," he said while delivering his concluding speech at a meeting here.

The interim government, led by Chief Adviser Dr Yunus, held the all-party meet over the July proclamation at the Foreign Service Academy here.

Dr Yunus said the main thing is that the original spirit of the July revolution should not be lost.

"We will keep the unique things in writing. Otherwise, when we leave, none can remember what happened (during the July mass uprising). Did it happen suddenly, or were there many things behind it (the movement), which exploded at that moment," he said.

Addressing the political leaders participated in Thursday's meeting, the chief adviser said the whole nation will feel encouraged today as they sit together.

"We discussed a very important issue and a beautiful solution was brought out too (from the meeting)," he added.

Stressing the importance of remembering the events of the mass uprising, Dr Yunus said, "Wherever we were during the uprising, there were many hopes and aspirations in our minds."

He underscored the need for recording the memories of the July uprising so that the entire nation can know in the future what happened during the revolution.

The chief adviser suggested portraying the aspirations, sufferings,  enthusiasm and revolutionary feeling that people had during the uprising in the July proclamation.

Representatives of different political parties and bodies, including Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Nagorik Committee, participated in the meeting. The all-party meeting was held to finalise the July proclamation. Earlier Dr Yunus reiterated that the interim government would take the nation forward through unity.

"...because the government was born amid unity; it was created through unity. When we work alone and see no one is beside us, we feel weak a bit. And when you all sit together, we get courage in mind that we remain united. We were born amid unity and the unity is our strength," he said while delivering his opening speech at a meeting with political parties here.    —BSS
