DIU to host country’s first AI olympiad

Daffodil International University (DIU) in cooperation with Daffodil International Professional Training Institute (DIPTI) are going to organize AI Olympiad Bangladesh 2025 on April 12 for the first time of the country's history.

This beacon initiative is aiming to promote AI-driven innovation, research, and education in the country which would be a dawn breaking inauguration hopefully.

Detailed information about the organization of the Olympiad and its special features was presented on Tuesday at the "Meet the Press" event organized at the 71 auditorium of Daffodil Plaza under Dhanmondi area in the capital.

Science and Information Technology Faculty Dean Professor Dr Syed Akhtar Hossain highlighted various aspects of the Olympiad at the event in presence of the DIU CEO Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman.

During the event, they said, ''Bangladesh is now on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution, where artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an important role. In today's world, AI is transforming industries, economies, and societies at an unprecedented pace. Aiming to expose the youth to this technology and enhance their skills, develop future AI leaders, fill the gap in AI education, encourage new AI-based innovations and move Bangladesh forward in the global AI competition, DIU jointly likely to organised the event.''

The press conference also informed that this competition will be held in three categories:
1.Primary Level: High school students eager to explore AI.
2.Secondary Level: HSC and diploma students with foundational AI knowledge.
3.Tertiary Level: University students, researchers, and professionals passionate about AI advancements.

Organizers also informed that the Olympiad will be a public competition, featuring project presentations showcasing AI-based solutions. There will be expert panel discussions featuring AI industry leaders and training workshops that will teach the latest AI technologies. Besides, there will be prizes and scholarships for the best AI innovators.

Registration process for the Olympiad will start from February 20 to March 15. Assessment of the event will run from March 16 to March 25 and the Grand Final will be held on April 12.
