General, Science & Technology (GST) admission tests for 19 universities across the country will be held simultaneously, starting from April 25.
Among them, the only center in Sylhet Division is Sunamganj Science and Technology University (SSTU).
In preparation for successful implementation of the admission test, university administration held a coordination meeting on Tuesday at 11 AM at FIVDB hall room in Shantiganj upazila.
The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. Nizam Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Sunamganj Science and Technology University.
Moderated by Professor Dr. Harun Or Rashid, Dean of Faculty of Science, the meeting included speeches from Sunajit Kumar Chanda, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Sunamganj; Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdul Latif, Proctor of the university; Dr. Jasim Uddin Sharifi, Civil Surgeon of Sunamganj; Additional Superintendent of Police Taposh Ranjan Ghosh; Professor Jyotirmoy Das, Principal of Sunamganj Government Women's College; Sukanta Saha, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Shantiganj; Md. Aminur Rahim, Instructor at Sunamganj Textile Institute; Associate Professor Abul Kalam Azad of Sunamganj Government College; Irphanur Rahman, Investigation Officer of Shantiganj Police Station; and Samiul Kabir, President of Shantiganj Press Club.
Also present were Registrar Md. Sarfuddin, Assistant Controller of Examinations Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain, Chairman of Chemistry Department Rashed Mahmud, Department Chairman Md. Anwar Hossain Wadud, Acting Principal of Abdul Majid College Masudur Rouf Pallob and General Secretary of Shantiganj Press Club Md. Nurul Haque, among others.
At the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor announced that from April 25, the GST admission tests for three units will begin at SSTU, the only test center in Sylhet division this year. A total of 3,399 students from 19 universities under the GST cluster will participate.
On April 25, the test for 'C' Unit will be held at Sunamganj Textile Institute, with 223 students appearing.
On May 2, 'B' Unit test will be held at Abdul Majid College and Sunamganj Textile Institute, with 922 students participating.
On May 9, 'A' Unit test will be held at Sunamganj Textile Institute, Abdul Majid College, Sunamganj Government College and Sunamganj Government Women’s College, where 2,854 students will sit for the exam.
To ensure the smooth execution of the cluster admission tests, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin has sought the cooperation of the people of Sunamganj.
