GAIBANDHA, Apr 22: Speakers at a function here on Tuesday underscored the need for proper implementation of 31- point outline to repair damaged state structure through the engagement of the common people.
"In the last 16 years, the fascist government led by Sheikh Hasina destroyed every institutions of the country including the education system, healthcare, employment, judiciary, civil administration, police administration, and the power sector.
Not only that over 500 BNP leaders and workers were killed during the July uprising, thousands of our leaders and workers suffered both physically and financially. Their homes and business establishments were attacked and damaged", they also said.
They made the comments while they were addressing a day-long training workshop on the 31-point outline and engagement of mass people for proper implementation of the points held at the auditorium of the Zilla Stadium of the town here on Tuesday noon while president of BNP, district unit, Professor Dr. Mainul Hasan Sadik presided over the workshop.
A trainers' team formed by Central BNP coming from Dhaka conducted the training. The members of the team are Professor Morshed Hasan Khan, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Barrister Rumeen Farhana, Farzana Sharmin Putul, Abdus Sattar Patwari and Fazlur Rahman Khokon conducted the training.
The trainers, in their speech, described the 31 points elaborately and said the objectives of the training is to reinstate the democracy, safeguard the right to vote, provide a permanent constitutional and institutional frame work for the democratic process, to implement an election time non-partisan Caretaker Government system so that the people could choose their representatives and form a government that genuinely represents their hopes and aspirations.
The 31-point proposals must be implemented to counter the conspirators at home and abroad who do not want flourishment and development of the country, they added.
The trainers also asked the men of BNP to work sincerely and seriously to achieve the trust and confidence among the people to make the points successful.
Earlier, General Secretary of BNP, district unit, Mahadunnabi Titul, Vice-President Shahiduzzaman Shahid and other senior leaders of district BNP addressed the workshop and urged the leaders of BNP here to hear the speeches of the trainers attentively and make the training successful as well.
The leaders of district and upazila BNP and its associate organizations participated in the workshop.
