India beats Bangladesh on penalties to win SAFF U-19 Championship

India defeated Bangladesh 4-3 via a penalty shootout to lift the SAFF U-19 Championship title on Sunday at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal Pradesh.

In regulation time, the scores were 1-1 which forced the match into penalties.

The Blue Colts went into half-time with a one goal lead courtesy skipper Singamayum Shami's direct free kick just in the second minute of play.

In the second half, Md Joy Ahamed of Bangladesh equalised in the 61st minute.

This was India's second SAFF U-19 title after it beat Pakistan in the 2023 edition's final.
