PIROJPUR, May 19: This year's sacrificial animal farming has exceeded the demand in the district.

According to sources at the department of livestock services (DoLS)-Pirojpur, a total of 46,935 sacrificial animals have been prepared ahead of Eid-ul-Ajha in the district. But the actual demand is 40,235, which means it higher by almost 4,000 animals.

This information was confirmed by District DoLS Officer Md Rana Mia.

These animals, such as cow-goat and sheep-buffalo, have been reared by various types of farms, and these are mostly chosen cattle for the Eid-ul-Azha customers, he added.

In farms of marginal, medium and large ones these animals were reared in commercial system. Sacrificial animals have also been reared at the individuals, targeting the forthcoming Eid.

The DoLS official said, prices of animals may not be higher because of the surplus production.
