Yash Raj Films’ highly anticipated crossover Tiger vs Pathaan, featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, has reportedly been paused. While fans have eagerly awaited the clash between the two iconic super spies, a recent report indicates that YRF head Aditya Chopra is halting progress to reassess the creative direction of the spy universe.

According to a report by Peepingmoon, Chopra feels the franchise is at risk of becoming predictable. “Aditya believes the spy universe films are veering towards repetition and needs a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation,” the outlet reported. The aim, it stated, is to overhaul the creative strategy to prevent “formula fatigue” and maintain audience interest with innovative storytelling and fresh ideas.

This news comes amid earlier speculation that Tiger vs Pathaan might be scrapped entirely, though YRF has not officially confirmed such claims. Concurrently, Chopra seems to be redirecting his focus to other major projects. Please note, no official announcements about the same have been made yet.

News18 previously reported that YRF is now prioritizing Dhoom 4, with Ranbir Kapoor set to lead the reboot. Chopra is reportedly deeply engaged in crafting the story alongside writer Shridhar Raghavan. Sources indicate the character is being customized to suit Kapoor’s on-screen persona, and the film will adopt a stylistic approach distinct from earlier spy universe entries.

Ayan Mukerji is said to be in discussions to direct Dhoom 4, with production potentially starting by April 2026. Meanwhile, the YRF Spy Universe continues to grow.

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is scheduled for release on 14 August 2025. Roshan returns as Kabir, while Jr NTR marks his Bollywood debut. Following that, Alpha, led by Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, is set to arrive in theaters on 25 December 2025.
