Shamim Haider Patwary new Jatiya Party Secretary General

Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary has been appointed the new Secretary General of the Jatiya Party, replacing former Secretary General Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu.

Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader appointed him to the post.

Khandaker Delwar Jalali, the Press Secretary to the Jatiya Party Chairman, made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Before this appointment, Patwary was a Presidium Member and Additional Secretary General of the party. He also served as an advisor to the late Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad.

Patwary was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Gaibandha-1 in a by-election on 22 March 2018, after the death of former MP Golam Mostafa Ahmed in December 2017.

He was re-elected in the 11th National Parliamentary Elections on 30 December 2018, running under the Jatiya Party’s plough symbol.
