KHULNA, July 28: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against the ex -Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) Professor Dr. Md. Shahidur Rahman Khan and 16 others, alleging abuse of power in the recruitment process by appointing unqualified candidates and deliberately failing qualified applicants.
Sumitra Sen, Deputy Director at the ACC's Integrated District Office in Khulna, lodged the case on Sunday as plaintiff.
According to the case statement, the accused manipulated recruitment procedures by violating official rules, falsifying documents, forging signatures and recommendations, and unjustly favouring ineligible candidates over meritorious ones.
The accused include ex-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidur Rahman Khan, ex-Registrar Khandaker Mazharul Anwar, and other staff-members Md. Jasim Uddin, Murad Billah, Anisur Rahman Rintu, Sultan Mahmud, Khairul Bashar Riaz, Md. Masud Rana, Shahrin Islam Mim, Reena Khatun, ABM Ariful Islam Turan, Md. Shahidul Islam, Md. Asif Ahmed, Didarul Alam, Md. Habibur Rahman, Md. Wahiduzzaman and Aciya Khatun
The charges were brought under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 109 of the Penal Code, along with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
The ACC alleges that 15 individuals (accused no. 3 to 17) were illegally hired despite being unqualified, denying rightful employment to eligible candidates.
