An unidentified woman, aged around 30, was killed after being hit by a bus on the Kaola elevated expressway in the capital.

The accident occurred around 8:00 am on Wednesday (August 6). She was rescued in a critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 11:00 am.

Md Sumon Kazi, a pedestrian who brought the woman to the hospital, said she was a passenger on a rented motorcycle and was wearing a burqa. The motorcycle was travelling along the expressway. At that time, he saw both the rider and the woman lying on the road.

He said the motorcyclist informed him that a bus had hit their bike and fled the scene.

Sumon added that he immediately brought the injured woman to the hospital. However, he could not say where the motorcyclist went afterward.

Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said the body has been kept in the morgue and efforts are underway to identify the victim.
