Stocks at both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw modest gains in the early hours of trading on Wednesday, buoyed by upward movement in a majority of listed company shares.

At the DSE, the benchmark index DSEX rose by 8 points within the first hour of trading. The Shariah-based index DSES added 2 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 remained largely unchanged.

Out of the traded issues on the DSE:

162 advanced

149 declined

81 remained unchanged

Turnover at the DSE surpassed Tk 400 crore during the opening hour, indicating active investor participation.

The CSE also reflected a positive trend, with its overall index gaining 44 points. Among the 139 issues traded:

56 gained

62 declined

21 remained unchanged

The turnover at the CSE stood at around Tk 3 crore in the same period.

Market analysts attributed the early gains to improved investor sentiment and selective buying in fundamentally strong stocks.
