Narsingdi BCL leader held from Banani

Police arrested a local leader of the banned political organisation, Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Narsingdi unit, from the capital's Banani area on Sunday night.

The arrested is Sohel Rana, 42, former president of Narsingdi’s Shibpur Police Station unit of the banned organisation.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials from Banani Police Station conducted a drive and arrested Sohel at around 11:05 PM on Sunday.

Sohel was arrested for his direct involvement in sudden anti-government processions in the capital city to disturb the law and order.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the detention and said that legal action will be taken against the arrested individual.
