Bangladesh will take on Hong Kong in a vital Group C match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers on Thursday at National Stadium under floodlights, with kick-off scheduled for 8 PM.

This game is a must-win for Bangladesh, as a loss would effectively end their chances of progressing to the final round of qualification.

Under the guidance of head coach Javier Cabrera, Bangladesh currently sit third in the group with one point from two matches.

They hold this position above India on goal difference after a goalless draw against India in their opener and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Singapore in their second match.

Bangladesh squad has been preparing since September 28, with a boost from the inclusion of Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury and Canada-based Shamit Shome ahead of this crucial encounter.

Historically, the two teams have faced each other four times since 2006, with Hong Kong remaining unbeaten, winning twice.

Hong Kong currently share the top spot in Group C with Singapore, both teams having four points.

A win against Bangladesh will significantly improve Hong Kong's chances of securing back-to-back qualifications for the Asian Cup.

In the latest FIFA World Rankings, Hong Kong are placed 146th, while Bangladesh are ranked 184th.
