Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM) at Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University (KKBAU) successfully organized a combined event featuring the Fall 2025 Freshers’ Reception, Teachers’ Welcome, Club Inauguration and Logo Unveiling Ceremony on Wednwsday.
The event marked the official welcome of new students enrolled in the Fall 2025 session, celebrating their entry into academic life.
It also served as an occasion to recognize and warmly receive the department’s newly appointed lecturer,Md. Nazim, along with Ahsan Ullah, who recently assumed the role of Library in-charge at the university’s central library.
In his welcome speech, Ahsan Ullah encouraged students to develop strong reading habits and actively utilize library resources.
He emphasized the importance of curiosity and knowledge exploration in academic growth.
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of the department’s new logo.
The ceremony was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman, alongside faculty members and invited guests.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to become more library-oriented and provided thoughtful guidance on academic and personal development.
He remarked, “Information science and knowledge management play a vital role in building a progressive society and today’s students are the torchbearers of that change.”
The event was further enriched by the presence of special guest Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, Deputy Director and Chief Librarian of Khulna Public Library.
He shared insights on managing libraries to international standards and assured the department of continued support in academic collaboration.
Registrar SM Atiar Rahman also attended the program and praised the department’s initiatives.
He recalled his childhood passion for reading and collecting books and offered practical advice to the students on academic and personal growth.
He also pledged ongoing administrative support for future departmental activities.
The ceremony was presided over by Farzana Sharmin Anika, Acting Head of ISLM Department, who expressed gratitude to the organizers for a successful event.
She stated, “Every student in our department is a future warrior of knowledge. Together, we aim to nurture a generation that will lead society through information, knowledge and technology.”
Another major segment of the event was the official inauguration of the department’s new student club, “Informatica.”
The club aims to promote creativity, research and tech-driven knowledge among students.
The program concluded with words of appreciation for faculty members, students, invited guests and the organizing committee, all of whom contributed to the success of the event.
