A Dhaka court has granted the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) permission to interrogate Nazrul Islam Mazumder, former EXIM Bank chairman and Nassa Group chairman, for two days at the jail gate in connection with two major embezzlement cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Thursday following a hearing on the ACC’s petition.

ACC Public Prosecutor Khandaker Shamim Hossain confirmed the development.

According to the case statement, Mazumder and others allegedly misused their authority and conspired to approve and disburse loans illegally, resulting in the embezzlement of Tk 857.93 crore and Tk 615.75 crore from EXIM Bank. The funds were reportedly laundered through multiple accounts to conceal their origin and ownership. Both cases remain under investigation.

Mazumder was arrested on October 1 in Dhaka’s Gulshan area by the Detective Branch of police. In a separate case related to the killing of a protester named Iman Hossain Gazi during an anti-discrimination movement, the court has placed him on a seven-day remand.
