3 new political parties get election symbols

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday allotted electoral symbols to three new political parties seeking registration.

An official notification, signed by Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Tuesday (November 4), confirmed the development. 

According to the notification, Bangladesh Aam Janagan Party has been assigned with Handshake symbol, Bangladesh Socialist Party (Marxist) has received Scissors symbol, and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has been allocated Shapla Bud (Water Lily Bud) symbol.

The commission stated that the parties will be able to use these symbols in elections once their registrations are finalized.

The EC also invited any objections regarding the registration of these parties. Individuals or organizations wishing to raise objections must submit written statements along with necessary documents to the EC Secretary by November 12.

The allocation comes as part of the Election Commission’s ongoing process to expand the list of officially registered political parties ahead of the next parliamentary polls.
