A Dhaka court has acquitted Ekushey Television (ETV) Chairman Abdus Salam in a case filed nine years ago by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for failing to submit his wealth statement.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-5 delivered the verdict on Tuesday, ruling that the charges against Salam were not proven. The accused was present in court during the verdict.

According to case records, the ACC had served a notice on Salam on November 21, 2016, asking him to submit his wealth statement within seven working days. Despite multiple extensions, he failed to comply. The ACC then filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station on April 13, 2017.

Following investigation, ACC Deputy Director Md Nurul Huda submitted the charge sheet against Salam on February 25 this year.

The court later framed charges and nine witnesses testified during the trial before Salam was cleared of all allegations.
