PANCHAGARH, Dec 8: The newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) for Panchagarh District Mohammad Rabiul Islam pledged his department's sincere and dedicated efforts to uphold law and order during an introductory meeting with local journalists on Sunday afternoon.
The gathering, held at the District SP office, was attended by senior police officials, officers from various police stations, and journalists from print, electronic, and online media across the district.
Addressing the media, SP Rabiul Islam emphasised the vital role of journalists as a societal mirror. "Through the media, both the shortcomings and the commendable aspects of government departments are brought to public light," he stated.
He highlighted the crucial responsibility of the press in ensuring the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections are free, fair, impartial, and acceptable, urging media personnel to remain vigilant against irregularities, rumors, and attempts to create chaos.
In a responsive session, journalists raised questions and provided suggestions on key issues including the overall law and order situation, drug abuse, theft, juvenile gangs, road safety, and the prevention of social crimes. The SP assured them that necessary measures would be taken regarding these concerns.
Having assumed his role through a lottery-based posting system, the new SP expressed his determination to enhance peace and security in the district. He stressed the importance of media cooperation in making police activities more public-friendly, transparent, and accountable.
