International Anti-Corruption Day observed in districts

'Youth Unity Against Corruption: Building the Integrity of Tomorrow' - under this slogan, International Anti-Corruption Day-2025 was observed in different districts of the country including Barisal, Cox's Bazar, Laxmipur, Joypurhat, Pirojpur and Rangamati, on Tuesday. 

BARISHAL: On this occasion, individuals from various levels of society, including the administration and police, participated in a human chain and discussion meeting organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

On Tuesday morning, the Day commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, the rendition of the national anthem, and the release of balloons and festoons on the Barisal Circuit House grounds by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Khairul Alam Suman. 

Later, a human chain against corruption was formed on the Birshrestha Mahiuddin Jahangir Road in front of the Circuit House, with participation from the administration, police, and people from all walks of life.

As part of the Day observance, speakers at a discussion held at the Barisal Circuit House auditorium remarked that eliminating corruption from the country, and society is indispensable for building a developed nation and state. They further commented that corruption is a major obstacle to forming a beautiful and healthy nation, emphasising that there is no alternative to the collective efforts of all to eradicate it from the country and society.

The chief guest at the ACC Day discussion meeting was Barisal Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman. The meeting was presided over by Md. Mozhar Ali Sardar, Director of the ACC's Barisal Division. Special guests included Md. Manjur Morshed Alam, DIG of Barisal Range Police, and Md. Shafiqul Islam, Commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police.

Among others, DC Md. Khairul Alam Suman and Principal Gazi Zahid Hossain, President of the Conscious Citizens Committee, also spoke at the discussion meeting.

COX'S BAZAR: The Day was observed in Cox's Bazar with the hoisting of the national and ACC flags, a human chain, a rally, and a discussion meeting.


On Tuesday morning, these programmes were organized by the district administration and the District Coordinated Office of the ACC.

The formal inauguration took place on the Shaheed Daulat Field of the Public Library, where Superintendent of Police (SP) A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman hoisted the national flag, conducted the national anthem, and released balloons.

Following a human chain and rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the DC. Additional DC Tasnim Jahan attended it as the chief guest.

In her address as the chief guest, she stated that the present government is moving the country forward by combating corruption. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Director (DD)  of the District Coordinated Office of the ACC Md. 
Mostafizur Rahman. Speeches were also delivered by, among others, ASP Nazmus Sakib Khan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanjila Tasnim, and Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman. Officials from various government departments, public representatives, student representatives, and other concerned individuals were also present at that time.

The speakers at the meeting emphasised that corruption must be resisted socially through the engagement of the general public.
LAXMIPUR: On the occasion of the Day, a rally, a human chain, and a discussion meeting were held on the District Collector's premises, jointly organized by the district administration, the ACC, and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).
DC  S. M. Mehdi Hasan inaugurated the Day's events by releasing balloons.

Later, a discussion meeting was held in the administration hallroom. Those present at the meeting included SP Md. Abu Tareq, Civil Surgeon (CS) Mohammad Abu Hasan Shahin, Deputy Director (DD) of Local Government and Municipal Administrator Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Assistant Director of the ACC Mohammad Kamrul Islam, Shujan President Professor Rafiqul Ahsan, former president Professor Z. M. Faruqi, and others.

JOYPURHAT: To mark the Day, a procession was brought out on Tuesday morning. 

The programme was organized by the district administration and the Integrated District Office of the ACC, with the assistance of the District Corruption Prevention Committee. The procession started from the DC office and paraded through the main streets of the town.

Subsequently, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC. DC Mohammad Al Mamun Mia was present as the chief guest at the event, while Afzal Hossain, President of the District Corruption Prevention Committee, presided over the meeting.

Among others, Al Mamun, Assistant Director of the Naogaon Integrated District Office of the ACC, delivered a speech. School students, scouts, BNCC members, and officials from government and non-government institutions participated in the programmes.

 The District Information Office arranged a screening of an anti-corruption documentary.

PIROJPUR: International Anti-Corruption Day was observed in the district in a befitting manner on Tuesday. 

To mark the occasion, the ACC and the district administration jointly organized a rally, human chain, and discussion meeting in the town in the morning.

The programme was assisted by the District Corruption Prevention Committee (DuPrac) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).

The day's events commenced with the national flag being hoisted atop the ACC office. Subsequently, a rally was brought out from the ACC premises. Participants paraded through the main streets and concluded on the Sadar Upazila premises, where a discussion meeting was held.

DC Abu Sayed attended the programme as the chief guest. SP Mohammed Manjur Ahmed Siddique was present as the special guest, while ACC DD Md. Aminul Islam also attended the event.

RANGAMATI: A human chain programme and a discussion meeting were held in Rangamati to mark the Day.

At the discussion meeting organized by the Rangamati District administration and presided over by the DC, attendees included, among others, SP Md. Abdur Rahim, Municipal Administrator (Local) Md. Mubarak Hossain, ADC (General) Nurul Amin, DD of the ACC S M Farhad Hossain, DD of the DAE Maniruzzaman, President of Shujan in Rangamati Banchita Chakma, and President of the Corruption Prevention Committee Md. Omar Faruq, along with officials from various government and non-government organizations.

Earlier in the morning, an anti-corruption human chain was formed in front of the district administration premises.
