New body of Narayanganj Club formed

NARAYANGANJ, Dec 21: Business leader M Solaiman has been elected Ppesident of the Narayanganj Club for a sixth term. He won the club's annual election on Saturday by a significant margin.

The Chief Election Commissioner Anisul Islam Sani announced the results in the club's auditorium in the evening. The Chairman of the Election Appeal Board Advocate Zakir Hossain and others were present.

Out of 2,457 voters, 1,552 cast their votes. For the post of president M Solaiman won with 1,196 votes. His sole rival Badiuzzaman Badu received 344 votes.

For senior vice-president Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Maruf won with 900 votes. His opponent, Mahfuzur Rahman Khan received 642 votes.

Engineer Aminuzzaman Mridha won the vice-president post with 956 votes. His opponent Saeedullah Hriday received 590 votes.

The elected members are Md Zahid Hossain (1,417 votes), Harun-Or-Rashid (1,355), Md Altaf Hossain (1,339), Uzzal Hossain (1,317), Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Golam Morshed Galib (1,262), Kazi Abdus Sattar (1,228), and Advocate Indrajit Saha Dipak (997). The defeated candidates for member posts are Ajit Kumar Saha (961) and Dilara Masud Moyna (950).

The newly elected president M Solaiman also serves as the president of the Bangladesh Yarn Merchants Association in addition to his role at the Narayanganj Club.
