Sylhet Titans all-rounder Moeen Ali has hailed young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain as Bangladesh cricket’s next big star, praising his talent and development in a recent interview.

“Definitely, I think he’s one,” Moeen said when asked about Bangladesh’s emerging players. “There are some good young players, but yes, I think he is.”

Moeen also supported Rishad’s decision to prioritise a stint in Big Bash League (BBL) over the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), highlighting the long-term benefits for both the player and Bangladesh cricket.

“In his case, it’s the right decision. He will learn more there and he will be better for Bangladesh cricket. He’s a wrist-spinner, young and very good,” Moeen added.

The former England international emphasised that exposure to high-level competition will accelerate Rishad’s growth.

“He’s already building his reputation. He has to go and make a name for himself. I think he will be the next big player for Bangladesh,” he said.

While acknowledging that Rishad’s absence is a setback for BPL, Moeen stressed that overseas experience outweighs the short-term loss.
