Ekushey Book Fair 2017 Inaugurated

The Ekushey Book Fair sets its sail from February 1, 2017 honouring significant literary figures of the country by Bangla Academy Literary Award 2016 in seven of the 10 categories.
Abu Hasan Shahriar got the honour for the contribution in poetry.
Important books (poetry): 'Antohin Mayabi Bhromon', 'Tomar Kache Jaina Tobe Jabo', 'Aklaibba-r Punorutthan', 'Tomader Kancher Shohor' and many more
Shahaduz Zaman honoured for his contribution in fiction.
Important works: 'Cracher Kornel' , 'Nirbachito Golpo', 'Bhashantor Shamagro'
'Nishorgote Dukkho', 'Onno Ek Golpokarer Golpo Niye Golpo' and many more
Morshed Shafiul Hasan (21st march 1953- till date) is honoured for his contribution in essay.
Important works: 'Purbo Banglay Chintachorcha 1947-1970: Dondo O Protikriya', 'Janarmoddhe Koto Moja', 'Shwadhinata-r Potobhumi', 'Proshongo Muktijuddho'
Niaz Zaman got the honour for her remarkable contribution in translation.
Important works: 'The Confessional Art of Tennessee Williams', 'The Art of Kantha Embroidery', 'A Divided Legacy: The Partition in Selected Novels of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh', 'The Crooked Neem Tree', 'The Daily Woman'
Noorjahan Bose obtained the honour for her contribution in biography and adventure.
Important works: 'Agun Mukhar Meye', 'Jete Jete Pothe'
Rashed Rouf achieved the honour for his contribution in children literature.
Important works: 'Porir Nupur', 'Porir Bhuban', 'Rabindranath: Chotoder Apon', 'Ananda Shampan'
M A Hasan got the honour for is contribution in writings on the Liberation War.
A five-member committee selected the authors for their contribution to the particular field in literature.
The award recipients received the prestigious prize from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on February 1, 2017 at the inauguration programme took place in the Bangla Academy premises. Each of the awards owners received an honorarium of BDT 1 lac, a crest and a certificate.
