Hero Alom granted bail in Bogura rape case

Controversial content creator Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alom, has been granted bail in a case filed over allegations of rape on the promise of marriage, physical abuse and forced abortion.

According to court sources, Hero Alam secured bail on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier on February 19, Hero Alom was arrested from Shajahanpur area of Bogura town following a warrant issued by the court.

On February 10, Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Judge Anwarul Haque ordered his arrest warrant after hearing the case.

According to the case statement, the complainant Sadia Rahman Mithila alleged that Hero Alom raped and physically abused her multiple times after luring her with promises of making her a film actress. The complaint also states that he forced her to undergo an abortion.

The victim filed the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with a Bogura court on April 21 last year.

Following an investigation, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) reportedly found preliminary evidence supporting the allegations.

The court later took cognisance of the complaint and issued an arrest warrant, leading to Hero Alom’s arrest on February 19.
