MUNSHIGANJ, Apr 25: Three health officials, including the civil surgeon, have been suspended in Munshiganj following allegations of irregularities and misconduct.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain announced the decision to journalists on Friday afternoon after visiting the 250-bed Munshiganj General Hospital.
The suspended officials are Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Kamrul Jamaddar, Superintendent of the 250-bed Munshiganj General Hospital Dr Ahammed Kabir, and steno typist at the CS's Office Mizanur Rahman.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the overall condition of the hospital and gave necessary directives to the concerned authorities. He stressed the need for doctors and health workers to ensure proper services for patients through responsible conduct.

According to sources, stenotypist Mizanur Rahman had long been accused of various irregularities during his service. He allegedly stayed abroad in Saudi Arabia for an extended period, served a jail term there, and later became involved in bribery and corruption after returning to Munshiganj.
After reports were published against him, he filed a case against two local journalists without obtaining approval from the authorities.
In view of the allegations, the minister ordered his suspension.
CS Dr Kamrul Jamaddar was suspended for failing to ensure timely vaccination at health complexes in the district, while Superintendent Dr Ahammed Kabir was suspended over allegations of making misleading statements to the media, including BBC Bangla, regarding rabies vaccines.
