Asian Development Bank President Masato Kanda and Dhaka WASA Managing Director Md. Aminul Islam on Sunday jointly inaugurated the Integrated Water Operation Centre (IWOC) and Dhaka WASA Child Day Care Centre, both developed with ADB financing under ongoing Dhaka WASA projects.

The Integrated Water Operation Center (IWOC), established under the Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project (DWSNIP), is a GIS-based centralized asset management and monitoring system designed to enable fully automated, real-time monitoring of water production and water quality from a single control room.

Officials said the state-of-the-art system is expected to improve operational efficiency, strengthen monitoring capabilities, and enhance service delivery for Dhaka WASA customers through more effective management of the city's water supply network.

The dignitaries also inaugurated a newly established Child Day Care Center, implemented with ADB grant support under the Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project (DESWS), as part of Dhaka WASA's Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategy Action Plan.

The facility aims to promote a more inclusive and supportive workplace, particularly for women employees, by providing a safe and modern childcare environment within the organization.

Equipped with breastfeeding facilities, rest and activity areas, dining space, child-friendly washrooms, CCTV monitoring, emergency care support, and other modern amenities, the center has been designed to ensure the safety, comfort, and physical and mental development of children aged between six months and six years. The facility is expected to benefit up to 20 children of Dhaka WASA employees.
