Regent Airways, a leading private airline of Bangladesh, has added a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft to take the total number of airplanes to 7 in its fleet, including four Boeing and two dash aircraft.
Regent Airways Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lt. Gen (Retd) M. Fazle Akber received the new aircraft when it arrived at the Dhaka ShahJalal International Airport from China on Saturday, said the Regent Airways authorities.
Regent Airways Director (Operation) Captain Rafiqur Rahman, Chief Commercial Officer Akter U Ahamed, Director (admn) Aminul Islam, Director (Engineering) Dilen Marven, Chief Finance Officer Abul Kalam Azad and other top officials were also present on the occasion.
There is no business class in the 183 seated new aircraft. Of the total seats, there are 15 Premium Economy seats and 168 seats are General Economy.
The travel by the new aircraft will be very comfortable for its sitting arrangement and adequate spaces, says the authority of Regent Airways in a press statement.
"The most modern new Boeing 737-800 aircraft is being included with the fleet of Regent as part of the expansion of the new international routes, the statement quoted CEO Fazle Akber as saying.
After getting the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and completing all formalities, the new Boeing 737-800 aircraft will fly for Dammam of Saudi Arab in the next month, he said.
He informed that Regent Airways will add another new Boeing 737-800 aircraft in its fleet also in next month.
It may be mentioned that Regent Airways started its journey with two Dash aircrafts on November 10 in 2010.
Now, the airline is operating international flights to Doha, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Kolkata, Bangkok, Katmandu and domestic flights on Dhaka, Chittagong and Coxs' Bazar routes.
