Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Monday shut down all operations of the internet service provider 'Dhaka Fiber Net Limited' for its alleged connection with militancy.

BTRC also asked the organisation to explain within 7 days why its license would not be cancelled for violating commission's rules and regulations, said a BTRC press release.

Dhaka Fiber Net Limited provided bandwidth connection to the 'Confident Net', which was running without license.

Confident Net gave internet connection to 150 people, among them, several people were using the internet for extremist activities.
