Udichi to celebrate first day of Monsoon today

A day-long festival titled 'Barsha Utsab 1423' will be organised at the Nazrul Mancha of Bangla Academy today (Thursday) morning to celebrate the first day of the Bangla month of Ashar.
Country's prominent cultural organisation Udichi Shilpigosthi will arrange the event to welcome the monsoon.
The colourful programme will include songs, dance and poetry recitation.
The program will be started at 7am with the rendition of a traditional song 'Allah Megh De, Pani De, Chhaya De Re Tui' by the artistes of Udichi with the traditional instruments like dhol, tabla, dotora, banshi.
Then artistes of Bonhisikha and Swapnobeena will present chorus songs, while prominent singers Mahmud Selim, Chhaya Karmakar, Anima Mukti Gomez, Biman Biswas, Mahadev Ghosh and others will render solo songs.
Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Belayet Hossain and Dalia Ahmed, among others, will recite poems of Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and others, while dance troupe Spandan will present colourful dance performance and artistes of Udichi Dhaka Mahanagar Sangsad will present a dance-drama.
Alongside Udichi Dhaka Mahanagar Sangsad, several troupes of Udichi including Mirpur, Kafrul and Kalyanpur will take part in the Barsha Utsab.    UNB
