Can we feel the impact of climate change?

*** "The southern areas of Bangladesh will loss 40  percent of productive land if the sea level rises to 65cm. About 2 crore people of the coastal areas in Bangladesh have already faced with the salinity problem in drinking water. The risk of occurring flood will increase for climate change." ***

Natural disorders like continuous conflagration in the whole country, unusual thunder, the disaster of the widen haor areas due to sudden flood, heavy rainfall, drought, etc. are endangering our normal ways of life. This is happening because of the effect of climate change. We can conceive perfectly that we are getting trapped by the averse and cruel effect of climate change. Rigorous steps must be taken before happening something ominous. Voice should be raised throughout the country, "We will no longer destroy environment; we will protect ourselves." I believe this slogan will appeal to the world conscience and to the mankind as well.
The effects of climate change are making the cosmopolites think anew today. Because of the unasked and unregulated activities, the level of climate change has raised highly. The capitalist self interested and industrialized states are failing to take effective steps being defeated to the interests of the corporate societies. And the countries of the third world like Bangladesh have to undergo its evil effects.
We have glimpsed long ago that Bangladesh was on the top position in the world in case of the risk of climate change. The countries of Asia including Bangladesh will seriously suffer for the collision of climate change. Two billion people of those countries will fall victim to sufferings due to drought and flood caused by heavy rainfall.
Because of climate change the countries of the South Asia as well as the East Asia will fall in the worst seasonal weather. It has already been noticed that there are heavy rainfall and drought in those countries. In the near future, its impact will fall upon from our daily life to each and every phase including agriculture.
Unfortunately, we hardly think of our environment. We are prone to the weight of carbon of the other countries. Bangladesh is a country of the third world. Here carbon is emitted below the rate that has been set for emission. And we have the largest mangrove forest in the world. This forest has enormous power of absorbing carbon according to a calculation of the trees of the Sundarban, the nature of the forest's land, undergrowth, the number of trees and so forth.
Yet, we are disadvantaged for the emission of carbon of the advanced countries which causes global warming. Due to the increase of the global warming, the sea level is alarmingly getting high by melting the ground ice. Different natural disasters are occurring including flood, drought, flow tide, storm and so on, destroying climate balance which has its direct impact in Bangladesh.
The southern areas of Bangladesh will loss 40 percent of productive land if the sea level rises to 65cm. About 2 crore people of the coastal areas in Bangladesh have already faced with the salinity problem in drinking water. The risk of occurring flood will increase for climate change.
In case of flood, Bangladesh is in the highest peak among 12 risky countries. Due to the geographical location of Bangladesh, the upstream rain water of Nepal and India including the ice-melt water of the Himalaya flows into the sea through the main rivers of Bangladesh. Thus it is noticed that on an average about 1094 million cubic meter water is flowing via Bangladesh every year and 15 lac hector of cultivable land are falling under flood and waterlogging.
Climate change is keeping huge adverse impact in the agricultural field of this country. In case of the globe climate change, Bangladesh is in the second position among the damaged countries. Due to climate change, devastating oceanic cyclones hit Bangladesh from May to June and from October to November every year. What is the approach of getting rid of this? We should keep ourselves free from environmental pollution, voice against endangered environments and awake the world conscience.
We have seen before that, though the developed countries have made many commitments over the above mentioned subjects in the World Climate Conference, the reality is that the industrialized countries are not so cordial in materializing the commitments.
It is agitating that some commitments are confined only to the formality. This time the world leaders are again making different commitments regarding the world climate change. Our PM Sheikh Hasina has also given a strong statement about the endangered environment of Bangladesh in this ongoing conference.
Due to the rise of the global warming, the problems of river erosion, flow tide, long time flood, waterlogging, drought, extra salinity are high. For these problems, millions of people of the country are becoming refugees every year. Climate change compels the most of the refugees to lead a life of helplessness. In this circumstance, our expectation is that the industrialized countries will contribute to the rehabilitation of the climate refugees.
