5 arrested for gang raping woman in Satkhira

Police arrested five people for allegedly gang raping a woman, from different areas of Satkhira district on Monday, reports UNB.

The arrested are identified as Toriqul Islam, 25, Idris Ali, 20, residents of Box of Debnagar village of sadar upazila, Alamin, 22, a resident of Basghata village, Kabirchal Islam, 27 a resident of Betla village and Sanjay, 25, a resident of Debnagar village.

According to the case statement, Toriqul asked the victim, a vendor, to go to a brick kiln in Chaigharia area for giving back her money and then raped her along with his accomplices on Sunday evening.

Hearing the victim’s scream a petrol team of police rescued her and arrested one of the accused from the spot.

The victim filed a case with Sadar Police Station accusing 10 people, including the arrestees.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused, UNB added.
