To alleviate the suffering of underprivileged children during winter, the social welfare organization Sombhabona organized the "Pushpokoli Winter Festival - 2023 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Gate No-5, providing various arrangements for the children.
One segment of the festival, allowed the children to indulge in as much cake as they desired. Additionally, winter jackets were distributed for daytime protection, and blankets were provided for nighttime warmth. To add a festive touch, Pushpokoli students showcased their own cultural performances.
Parents and guardians, alongside the children, shared in the joy of the festival. Distinguished figures, including Tofazzal Ali, Executive director of Standard group, Ariful Islam (founder of Sombhabona), Ariyan Arif, Founder,Mojar school, Women entrepreneur Hasina Mukta, Sarmin sultana Nupur and co-founder of sombhabona Mushfika Nishat, Al Amin Hossain, and Arefin Mahadi, Volunteer wings president Robiul Islam Rahat attended the event along with well-wishers.
Ariful Islam, founder of Sombhabona, said Sombhabona is committed to ensuring that these children can partake in the same festive practices as everyone else and encourages anyone willing to take on the responsibility of a parent for these children.
Sombhabona is a non-profit organization From the Initiating its journey in 2011, Sombhabona has been dedicated to sustainable livelihood development for the underprivileged.
Over the past 12 years, the organization successfully contributed to the education of disadvantaged children through the Pushpokoli School, skill development for marginalized women through the Onindito Naree project, and creating employment opportunities for youth through the Swanirvor project.
In addition, Sombhabona has launched the Sombhabona ICT Center to provide free IT training for economically disadvantaged educated youth.
The project aims to spread the light of technology across all levels of society and establish permanent workplaces for skilled women and men who were previously unemployed due to a lack of opportunities.
